Osage Nation may share in oil settlement

JUNE 21, 2001 A spokesperson for the Department of Interior said the Osage Nation of Oklahoma will most likely share in the government's portion of a $25 million oil royalty settlement fund. The settlement comes from a lawsuit filed against Koch Industries for claims the company stole oil from federal and Osage land. Of the $25 million, $17 million will go to the Interior. The tribe has filed a $2.4 billion lawsuit against the Interior for mismanagement of their oil royalties. Get the Story:
