Campaign urges voluntary blackouts

JUNE 21, 2001 Americans throughout the country are being urged to stage their own voluntary blackouts tonight, the longest day of the year. The "Roll your own blackout" campaign is the brainchild of David Aragon of Oakland, California. He said he is surprised that so many people have become interested. The campaign urges consumers to turn off the lights, television, and other energy consuming devices from 7 pm to 10 pm. Get the Story:
