JUNE 7, 2000

Even though the state of Kansas has no long term drought plan, the state claims that it is prepared for a water emergency. Unfortunately, the Kickapoo Tribe in the Northeastern part of Kansas is currently experiencing a water crisis.

In addition to troubles on the tribal council, the Kickapoo were recently has dealt with drought conditions and an inability to purchase water from nearby communities due to a shortage of water in the area. Recently, 3 potential water sites have been found on the reservation.
