Research published in today's issue of Nature blames Alaska Natives for starting the destruction of sea otters thousands of years ago.

Based on the work of 19 scientists on four continents, the research analyzes about 10,000 years of history. With the case of the sea otters, the researchers say the destruction started 2,500 years ago.

The study also says Indians in the Caribbean contributed to the destruction of sea turtles beginning 3,000 years ago.
