DOJ charged with slacking on clean air

FRIDAY, AUGUST 10, 2001 The Department of Justice is denying claims that they are failing to enforce strict clean air regulations enacted by the Clinton Administration. Critics of the Bush administration allege that DOJ officials are not prosecuting cases against companies who do not comply with the environmental provisions. A controversy surrounding a settlement with one company shows that the government prepared to settle but apparently delayed to see what the Bush administration's actions might be.
