Norton discusses Ariz. water rights

FRIDAY, AUGUST 10, 2001 Secretary of Interior Gale Norton participated in talks between the Gila River Tribe and Arizona officials on a proposal to settle the tribe's water rights. Norton took an aerial tour of the area with Rep. John Kyl (R-Ariz.), who is helping with the deal, and Gov. Jane Hull. She was impressed with the cooperation between the tribe and the state, said The Associated Press. The meeting lasted three hours. Kyl had hoped a final announcement could have been made but more has to be considered. Get the Story:
