The Environmental Protection Agency held a public meeting on Thursday to discuss the removal of lead from Quapaw-owned land in Tar Creek.

Tar Creek is a Superfund site. EPA halted cleanup when state lawmakers failed to provide matching funds.

The EPA will still clean up the site, but only those that are tribally- or Indian-owned.

Tests have shown that children have dangerous levels of lead and zinc in their blood.
