TUESDAY, AUGUST 7, 2001 Secretary of Interior Gale Norton will be making a speech in her home state of Colorado today, addressing an oil and gas industry group. Norton will use her speech to the Colorado Oil and Gas Association to promote President Bush's national energy policy. The House gave the Bush administration a victory by passing a comprehensive energy bill that opens up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas development. While in Colorado, Norton will name Kit Kimball, a mining lobbyist, as her director of external and intergovernmental relations. Kimball will work out of Denver. Bush will visit Colorado next week to promote his agenda. Vice President Dick Cheney was in Colorado Monday and hung out at the Wigwam Club in Deckers, reported The Denver Rocky Mountain News.
