AUGUST 8, 2000 Lyle McNeal, founder of the Navajo Sheep Project which is currently housed at Utah State University has won a lawsuit against the university over his attempts to restore rare churro sheep to the Navajo Nation. McNeal was awarded $44,000 in back pay. McNeal accused his employees of cutting his pay for dealing with "little old [Navajo] ladies in tennis shoes." Sharon Begay, a Navajo woman, testified on behalf of Professor McNeal. Get the Story:
