The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma has sent two of its own fire-fighting crews to battle blazes in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Both were dispatched on Tuesday night. A crew of 19 are fighting a blaze in Ada, Oklahoma, and 20 went to Mena, Arkansas.

"We’re keeping everybody pretty close to home right now," said Paul Washington, coordinator for the tribe's fire crews.
