Ojibwe man to oversee Calif. forests

Jack Blackwell, an Ojibwe tribal member from Minnesota, has been tapped as regional forester at the U.S. Forest Service.

In his position, Blackwell will oversee 18 national forests in the Pacific Southwest region, covering 20 million acres in California. He is a 30-year veteran of the Forest Service, part of the Department of Agriculture.
