Further study of tribal compact wanted

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2001 Oklahoma state and federal officials are considering action to force an environmental study of a proposed water compact between the state and two tribes. The Choctaw Nation and the Chickasaw Nation have come to an agreement with the state on water rights. A key part is the sale of water to Texas. The Legislature must approve the compact before it becomes effective. Some environmentalists are calling for more study as well. Get the Story:
