The owner of a Chicago company that wants to open a kitty litter mine in Nevada is predicting victory.

That's not stopping memters of the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, the Hungry Valley Indian Colony and area residents from opposing the plan. They oppose the mine, citing health and environmental risks.

Oil-Dri Corp. believes the risks aren't significant and that the operation would stimulate the economy. The mine would be located on land next to the Reno-Sparks reservation and it would operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to make kitty litter.
