The Atomic Safety and Licensing Board is considering whether jet crashes might be a threat to a nuclear waste facility on the Skull Valley Goshute Reservation in Utah.

The board is holding field hearings in Utah to consider the tribe's proposal. The tribe has partnered with a consortium of eight private utilities to store up to 40,000 tons of waste on the reservation.

Along with a jet crash, other risks being assessed include earthquakes and environmental damage.
