Land case to go to court again
OCTOBER 25, 2000

The Delgamuukw case is headed back to the Supreme Court again, as the Gitxsan First Nation in British Columbia is seeking a clarification on the historic decision.

The decision recognized Native title to lands in British Columbia, where the Crown never entered into treaties with First Nations. But it establishes limits and tests on what can be considered aboriginal territory.

The Gitxsan hope to solidify their claim to nine watersheds with the new case.
