Mi'kmaq logging case to be heard today
Thirty-one Mi'kmaq loggers who were charged with illegally harvesting timber on crown land in Nova Scotia will have their case heard again today. Talks had broken down last summer between the government and Mi'kmaq leaders, when they were told their aboriginal title would not be recognized. The loggers argue their title grants them the right to log on crown land.

A similar case in New Brunswick was heard last week, ending with the conviction of a Mi'kmaq logger there.
