Indian preference defended

Businesses in Nunavut and the Nunavut government are defending its Business Incentive Policy, which requires businesses to use Inuit goods and services on government contracts.

At least one businessman is calling the policy racist, but Public Works Minister Manitok Thompson said even native companies are losing out on contracts. Other businesses say its no problem meeting the requirement, which varies by community.
