Canada's Inuit prepare for hunt

MONDAY, APRIL 15, 2002

Hunters in the Inuit territory of Nunavut, Canada, are getting ready for their annual whale hunt.

A reported 300 to 400 narwhals and hundreds of belugas are harvested every year. Under a hunt supervised by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, a small number of endangered bowhead whales are also hunted.
