First Nation doesn't want U.S. casino

TUESDAY, APRIL 23, 2002 The Grand River First Nation of Ontario doesn't want to open a casino in Pennsylvania, band officials said. Although the idea was under consideration at one time, it was dropped more than a year ago, according to the chief of the Six Nations council. Roberta Jamieson told the Associated Press neither the council nor the Six Nations Confederacy, the band's traditional government, is pushing for a casino. A group claming to represent the First Nation was set to meet with Gov. Mark Schweiker's office yesterday but canceled. Get the Story:
