JANUARY 26, 2001

Research published in the British Medical Journal this week suggests that big babies are more likely to have higher intelligence.

The study followed 3,900 British men and women born in 1964. They were all tested at various ages in their life and those whose birth weight was above 5.5 pounds were more likely to score higher.

Starting at age 26, intelligence measurements of all study participants tended to be the same.
