Okla. Tribe cuts health jobs

FEBRUARY 16, 2001 The Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma on Thursday eliminated 63 jobs from its health care system and reassigned 60 other health care employees to other areas of tribal government. The tribe said rising costs and decreasing revenues as the reason. The tribe expected to have $61.5 million in revenue this year but instead will make $57 million, or $4.5 million short. Tribal legislators said they were surprised by the cuts. Get the Story:
