APRIL 27, 2001

Senator Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.) on Thursday introduced a bill to give the Federal Trade Commission broader authority to crack down on companies who market violent and sexual content to minors.

Fines of $11,000 per day could be assessed against companies who violate FTC practices. The FTC this week released a follow up report on violence in media, criticizing the entertainment industry for not making enough progress to change marketing practices.
