JUNE 20, 2001

The National Cancer Policy Board on Tuesday released a report urging for better care of cancer patients.

The report says not enough is being done to address the needs of cancer patients during treatment. The health industry is so focused on curing cancer that they have forgotten to handle problems like pain, nausea, depression, and fatigue.

There are about nine million Americans living with cancer, according to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Cancer deaths in Indian Country increased over the past decade.
