Camp focuses on foster kids

AUGUST 14, 2000 The In-Care Network, a private, non-profit foster care agency, put on Camp Little Feather on the banks of the Yellowstone River in Montana to bring Native children closer to their culture. The three-day camp is part of the agency's effort to make sure Native children experience foster care designed for Natives. The agency says placing foster kids in Native homes is the best way to serve them. Thirty percent of children in foster care in Montana are Native. As a whole, Native Americans are 6 percent of the state's population. Get the Story:
