TUESDAY, AUGUST 14, 2001 Senator Max Baucus (D-Mont.) held a hearing on diabetes in Indian Country at Montana State University in Billings on Monday. About 100 attended the hearing, which included testimony from tribal and health leaders and diabetes patients. They spoke widely of the epidemic that is affecting Montana's Indian population and of the need for more funding, resources and tools to combat it. Baucus said he will use his position chairman of the Senate Finance Committee to raise awareness of the problem. Get the Story:
