Indian group to take over detox center

The American Indian Housing and Community Development Corporation will be taking over a alcohol detoxification program in Minneapolis, Minnesota, from the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army has been handling the program for Hennepin County. The Indian corporation agreed to take it over so long as the county provided increased the budget by $100,000 to a total of $466,000.

About a third of the program's existing clients are Native American, reports The Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
