Fujimori resigns will stay in Japan

NOVEMBER 21, 2000

Alberto Fujimori sent a letter on Monday to the Peruvian Congress, announcing his resignation as President of the country.

Currently in Japan, he also said he will stay there indefinitely. It is not known if he will seek political asylum there, but Japan officials said he has not asked for it.
