Aboriginals call for treaty

Australian aboriginal leaders are calling on the federal government to negotiate treaties in order to help end divisions between the nation and its 2 million aboriginal inhabitants.

Government officials have voiced opposition to such an undertaking, saying it would divide, rather than unite, the country.
