Presidential candidates Alejandro Toledo and Alan Garcia are winding up their campaigns as citizens throughout Peru prepare to go to the polls for the fourth time in a year.

Toledo is leading in the polls but Garcia has amassed an impressive following, considering he once drove the country into financial peril as former President. But whatever the nature of the race, political analysts and citizens alike are noting the importance of Toledo's pride and marketing of his Indian heritage.

The election will be held Sunday, June 3. Voting is compulsory in Peru.
