A regional Chinese official on Thursday told Reuters that thousands of Tibetan monks and nuns are being removed from a large, thriving religious community by the Chinese government.

The International Campaign for Tibet says that Chinese official have also burned down some buildings at Larung Gar, located in the remote mountains on the eastern edge of Tibetan ethnic territory.
