TUESDAY, AUGUST 7, 2001 Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo on Monday said he will continue to press Japan for the return of exiled former leader Alberto Fujimori. After a political scandal threatened to topple his rule, Fujimori fled to Japan, the country of his parents. He resigned from his job but Congress refused to accept it. Fujimori is wanted in his home country to answer to various charges. But since he has been granted citizenship by Japan, his return is unlikely. Japan and Peru have no extradition treaty.
