Man acquitted of assault on tribal member

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2001 A jury in Washington on Tuesday acquitted a man of assaulting a member of the Spokane Tribe. Timothy A. M. Banks was facing charges of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and first-degree malicious mischief but was only found guilty of second-degree driving with a suspended license. He could face up to a year in jail. Banks and a group of white men who appeared to be drunk were involved in a scuffle with tribal member Jeffrey Ford and his two brothers. Ford was hit in the elbow and his car was destroyed with a metal fence pipe Banks was accused of using. Get the Story:
