OCTOBER 24, 2000 Voters of the Ho-Chunk Nation ousted President Jacob Lonetree by a 599 to 548 vote this past Saturday. Allegations of financial mismanagment brought about the vote. One of the tribe's casinos made $57.2 million this fiscal year, compared to $85.2 million the previous and dissidents link the drop in revenue and other financial conditions to Lonetree. The group who ousted Lonetree is also the same who succeeded in removing Chloris Lowe Jr from his position in 1997. The Ho-Chunk Vice President, Clarence Pettibone, will serve as interim President until June 2001. Related Stories:
