MONDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2001

Voters of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut will go to the polls on Sunday.

Two seats on the seven-member council are up for grabs. Vice-Chairman Richard A. "Skip" Hayward, who led the tribe from obscurity to international prominence, is up for re-election.

A council seat is being vacated by an incumbent.

The tribe, like others in Connecticut, does not release names of candidates seeking election.
