First woman president inaugurated

NOVEMBER 21, 2000 The Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana on Monday inaugurated Geri Small as their first woman president. A parade preceded Small's inaguration, which included the swearing in of other officials. In her inaguration speech, Small noted that the tribe has a history of women warriors. She was elected with 72 percent of the vote. Clara Nomee, the former leader of the Crow Tribe, was in attendance. Get the Story:
