NOVEMBER 6, 2000 Several high-profile civil rights lawyers are planning a lawsuit seeking reparations for descendants of African slaves. Exactly whom or what entities the group will sue is not being discussed by the group. Private companies or institutions and federal and state governments could be targets. Included in the group is Alexander Pires, who won a discrimination lawsuit against the US Department of Agriculture on behalf of African-American farmers.
