Ponca Tribe holds elections

NOVEMBER 8, 2000 Along with the rest of the country, the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska held its elections on Tuesday, with one incumbent keeping his seat on the council. Three new councilors will take their seats on the nine-membmer council. Elections for the council are staggered, with the remaining five up for re-election in 2002. The tribe doesn't have a reservation. They were terminated in 1966 and received restoration in 1990. Get the Story:
