FEBRUARY 19, 2001 In the wake of the cutting of 123 jobs in its health care system, Chickasaw Nation tribal members are questioning a plan to contruct a new capitol building in one of two sites in Oklahoma. Governor Bill Anoatubby says the capitol would cost millions. But his critics question the feasibility of the plan especially since the tribe is dealing with a $4.5 million shortfall in its health care budget. Anoatubby, however, says the rest of the tribe is doing fine. Net profits from the tribe's gaming centers and other developments were $14.5 million last year. Get the Story:
