Group sues Mohegan Tribe

FEBRUARY 8, 2001 A Connecticut group called Native American Mohegans has filed suit against the Mohegan Tribe claiming that they have been wrongfully ignored by their federally recognized cousins. But the tribe wants to be recognized as its own tribe. They also want the Mohegan Tribe to fork over some of the profits from their successful Mohegan Sun casino. A spokeswoman for the Mohegan Tribe said the suit has no merit. Get the Story:
