Bill to help fight land claims recognition

Representative Nancy Johnson (R-Conn) on Thursday said she would introduce legislation to help communities fight land claims lawsuits and federal recognition petitions.

Johnson's bill would allow communities to apply for $500,000 in funds from the Department of Interior. Communities could receive reimbursement for each lawsuit or federal recognition petition they challenge.
