Towns meet over tribes' recognition

Town officials in southeastern Connecticut met with state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal in response to pending federal recognition of Eastern Pequot and the Paucatuck Eastern Pequot tribes in that state. The towns hope Blumenthal will look into delaying the recognition process until the Bureau of Indian Affairs responds to their Freedom of Information Act request. The towns also hope to meet with state governor to discuss the issue. Get the Story:
