Bill seeks to correct effects of Dawes Act

APRIL 25, 2000 A bill introduced by Northern Cheyenne Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R Colo) attempts to reverse effects of the 1887 Dawes Act by reforming administrative problems in land inheritance. The Senate Committee on Indian Affairs unanimously approved the bill. Get the Story:
