APRIL 26, 2001 Freshman Congressman Rob Simmons (R-Conn.) on Tuesday became the latest in a long line of persons who have searched for but have been unable to find a map describing the 1983 boundaries of the Mashantucket Pequot reservation in Connecticut. An original copy of the map, used when Congress passed the 1983 law settling the tribe's land claim, has been sought for more than a year now. Local and state officials can't seem to find it, although copies have apparently been found. Detractors of the tribe hope the original will show the tribe was granted more land than deserved.
