APRIL 30, 2001 African-American and Hispanic legislators in Connecticut have become increasingly criticial of actions taken by Attorney General Richard Blumenthal regarding tribes in the state. The legislators say Blumenthal's actions reek of racism. They also question the views of towns located near reservations, who are asking for more money from tribal casinos. Rep. Annette Carter, D-Hartford, says she was asked to tone down her criticsm of Blumenthal by Democratic leaders. Blumenthal is considered a Democratic contender for Governor in 2002. Get the Story:
