City wants jail but has no site

MAY 10, 2001 The Española City Council on Tuesday approved a new jail but has no site on which to place the northern New Mexico facility. The city had previously approached Santa Clara Pueblo about placing a jail on tribal land. Tribal residents and neighbors were opposed and the tribal council declined to host it. Get the Story:
