MAY 16, 2000 Responding to recent statements made by BIA director Kevin Gover, James A. Cunha, Chairman of the Paucatuck Eastern Pequot tribe in Connecticut said he has no plans to join up with the Eastern Pequot tribe. Gover indicated recently the tribes might be recognized as one (See Gover goes into the fray). The two tribes have a dispute dating back to at least the 1930s which led to their present day separation. Get the Story:
