Hopi receive payment from Navajo Nation

MAY 18, 2000 The Hopi Tribe of Arizona received a $29 million payment from the Navajo Nation as part of a 1996 settlement over a land dispute between the two tribes. The tribe will also receive the second $25 million payment from the US government in the next couple of weeks. Chairman Wayne Taylor Jr. said the tribe wants to invest the money wisely and provide a trust fund for their children's education. Get the Story:
