The Connecticut Legislature's Appropriations Committee has budgeted $844,858 over two years to help Attorney General Richard Blumenthal pay litigation and staff costs to fight and monitor the federal recognition process.

The funding will live or die depending on negotiations between Governor John Rowland and Democratic legislative leaders.

Similar funding had been proposed by a legislator but Rep. William Dyson, D-New Haven, the committee co-chairman, said it wasn't needed since Appropriations had put it in their proposal.

Blumenthal had first requested the fundsfrom Rowland but Rowland said it wasn't needed. So Blumenthal went to the Legislature.
