MAY 3, 2000 Who owns part of the Sandia Mountains in New Mexico is still up for question, even though the tribe and the US government proposed a settlement last month to the drawn out case. The plan was criticized by many as being too vague and giving too much to the Pueblo. Janet Reno and Senator Pete Dominici (R New Mex) are now urging new talks over the west face of the the Sandia Mountains. The Department of Justice had signed off on the agreement. All parties involved, including Sandia Pueblo, said they wanted to resume talks as soon as possible. Get the Story:
