MAY 9, 2000 The BIA released an additional 7,028 pages of documents to the Connecticut towns of Preston, Ledyard and North Stonington and more are on their way. The towns filed a Freedom of Information request with the agency in order to evaluate the preliminary federal recognition of the Paucatuck Eastern Pequots and the Eastern Pequots. The towns claim the BIA has been too slow in releasing documents. The documents released pertained only to the Paucatuck Eastern Pequots. 800 pages were withheld becase genealogical records and other private data are not subject to the FOI Act. Get the Story:
